With PGA Championship Coming to CT, It’s Vital to Respect State’s Orders and Individuals’ Concerns
By Attorney Robert B. Fried
Nine of the top 10 golfers in the world descend on Cromwell, Conn., this week and 100 more will be here soon for the annual Travelers’ Championship. This is the third PGA event since professional golf did a reboot two weeks ago. And it is the third tournament that will not permit fans to attend. In fact, the players are not allowed to bring their own families as many have done in the past.
Last week in Hilton Head, SC, a number of professional golfers complained about thousands of people crowding the beaches and restaurants, many without regard for masks and physical distancing.
Thus far, Connecticut seems to be doing better in flattening the curve than most states and the metrics back it up. It is important that the State continues to reopen. At the same time, it is vital that everyone recognizes the importance of abiding by Governor Lamont’s orders relative to social distancing and wearing masks.
Families must work together and respect each other’s concerns as we start to emerge; is it safe for children to go to summer camp, to play with friends, to go on vacations, etc. Families have to communicate and work hard to avoid conflict. This applies to intact families; this applies to divorced families.
The Connecticut Collaborative Divorce Group consists of attorneys, mental health professionals and financial professionals who can help you try to find solutions that works for the entire family.
