Attorney Susan V. Busby
Attorney Susan Busby is a graduate of McGill University (1988) and the University of Connecticut Law School (1993), where she was on the Law Review and Moot Court Board. She stopped litigating in 2006, and has since dedicated her practice to helping individuals and families using the non-adversarial processes of mediation and collaboration. She sees her role as a divorce lawyer as helping families through difficult transitions. Susan works with clients from around the state.
Susan is the co-author of a two-volume treatise on Connecticut Civil Procedure, and has written articles for other legal publications, including and “Divorce and Separation” in American Jurisprudence; “Marital Agreements” in A Practical Guide to Estate Planning in Connecticut (2013); and “Alternative Dispute Resolution” in A Practical Guide to Divorce in Connecticut (2014). Her article, “A Practice With Heart” was published in The Connecticut Lawyer (2007).
She is a Board member of the Connecticut Council for Non-Adversarial Divorce, a lifetime fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation, a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Central Connecticut Collaborative Family Law Group and the Collaborative Divorce Lawyers Association. She is a volunteer mediator through the Connecticut court system and at the Children’s Law Center.
Susan has had extensive training in mediation, collaboration and peace-making (over 200 hours), and is dedicated to helping families and individuals through the divorce process in a caring and respectful manner.
