CCDG Attorney Newman: Holidays Are Stressful When Divorcing
By Attorney Ann Newman
“We love holidays but let’s face it, holidays are stressful. Throw in Covid and a divorce and the 2020 holidays are throwing many folks into a complete spin. You may be feeling overwhelmed, alone, sad and maybe a bit guilty. There are a couple of things you can do to get through this season. First, consider helping someone – either someone in need or a friend that seems a little down these days. Focusing on others always takes the focus off of our own difficulties.
Also, while a change in traditions may feel uncomfortable, by making a new tradition you may find new joy in the holidays. If you’re okay with change, it is likely your children will be too.
Most importantly, try to avoid staying alone: zoom some friends, pick up the phone to chat with someone, reach out to friends and family. Remember, take care of yourself and 2021 is right around the corner.”
